Characters: Zak Trueblood (Rel Vobud) - Pat[0], Mena Timaly (Time Renald) - Denise[0], Lorraine Jace (Lori) - Marie[0], Jethro (Tom) - Dean[0], Kesh (Tes Larya) - Kim[0], Andre () - Gene[0],
Over the next few days, things begin to return to normal. Jim starts spending more time talking than working and the rider does not seem as jumpy as he was. Tima decides to investigate the alley where the party saw Jim and the rider disappear. Tes decides to follow the rider south on his next ride.
Tes follows the rider south where she overhears the one tell the other the following message:
"Ears only for Le Blank: No resistance seen. You were right. Proceed with phase two."
Tes allows the rider to head north and the follows at a safe distance and returns to Gimel by skirting the city and entering the city from the alley, and was not seen again. Tima returns to the inn.
That day, Tom and Tima return to the school so that Tom can board his mule and wagon. Tom feels that he can be less noticeable if the wagon is out of sight and Tima feels that it is best that she not be seen for a few days. Tes relays the message she overheard and Tom and Tima carry the message back to the school.
That night, the party is attacked as they sleep. Rel is wounded but manages to escape from his room. Lori kills one of her attackers and the other jumps out the window and escapes by means of a rope. Tes kills both of her attackers and examines their bodies. She picks up one sword and goes to check on the other party members. While the party is out of their rooms talking in the hall and checking Rel's room, the bodies disappear. Lori fetches Jim to protest this outrage and the party is offered the attic for the remainder of their stay as a safe place to sleep. The party sets watch for the rest of the night.
The next day, the party sneaks out of the Inn and seeks refuge in the storage room behind O'Rorke's store. They fix the attic so it looks like the party is still staying there to put the assassins off their trail.
When Tom and Tima return, they find the party staying in the storeroom. They bring news that the intercepted message most likely means an attack on the School. They are informed that their tatoos will sting if the temple is destroyed. Latter that day while the party is working on a plan, they feel the sting. The School has been attacked and the temple must have been destroyed.
Now that there is no School, the characters are on their own. There will be no support from the School (i.e. no returning to the school to hide or rest up). There is still a few remaining services the school can provide for the characters: its hidden wealth and a major clue.
In secret rooms within the temple, are stores of gold, gems, and weapons. These stores were unknown to anyone except the Father and the builders of the temple. Using the 'dream' hint device, lead the characters to the School for exploration. There are many dangers waiting them however.
The school also has been booby-trapped by the leaving Black Glove to prevent the School from being used again. The traps are meant to scare away the Students and are therefore more show that substance. There is still danger and the characters had better beware! See the room descriptions attached to the maps for detains on the traps and treasures.
The clue left in the school is the ring of Gregory Bello! Gregory lead the attack on the School and during the fight, his hand was damaged. Two fingers from his right had were cut off and the ring was lost with the fingers. Gregory has had his hand restored but could not find the ring after the fight. The reason that the ring was lost involves the residual power of the Father.
Although dead an unable to return to life, the Father's power remains a force in action. The father can talk with Students in their dreams and can move small objects as in the spell.
The Black Glove is aware that someone in town has seen a message passed to someone in the palace. The BG rider will no longer be seen - he was given other duties. The assassins that tried to kill the characters were members of the Black Glove and were tipped off by Jim that this group was not what seemed. The characters was now known to the Black Guard and will be recognized on sight 30% of the time. If the characters are involved in any trouble, that chance goes up to 80%.
The Black Glove assassins have not given up on the characters. If it becomes known where the party is staying, the assassins will be back. The Black Glove does not like to leave a job half done.
